Background: 
 
 Joel R. Brandes has been recognized by the Appellate Division as  a “noted authority and expert on New York family law and divorce.“[1] He is the author of  the treatise Law and The Family New York, 2d (9 volumes) (Thomson Reuters), and Law and the Family New York Forms (5 volumes) (Thomson Reuters) and their annual updates. Mr. Brandes writes Bits and Bytes, ™ an electronic newsletter for the New York divorce and family law bench and bar, a website, New York Divorce and Family Law ( www.nysdivorce.com), and two blogs, “New York Divorce and Family Law” (https://brandeslaw.blogspot.com/) and “A Child is Missing: The International Child Abduction Blog”( https://joelbrandes.blogspot.com/). Mr. Brandes was counsel in the landmark New York Court of Appeals cases of Morone v Morone, Tucker v Tucker and McSparron v McSparron.

2003 – Present.  President of Joel R. Brandes Consulting Services, Inc. located at 
2881 NE 33rd Court (At Dock), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33306. Telephone (954) 564-9883. From 2002 to 2015 company operated as a paralegal service, which was conducted over the Internet.  In that capacity Mr. Brandes advised and coached matrimonial and family law attorneys with regard to difficult litigated matrimonial, custody, child abduction and Family Court matters pending in all of the courts of the state of New York, and international child abduction cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He drafted litigation papers, motions and questions for attorneys to use in the examination and cross-examination of witnesses in State and Federal court actions. He drafted briefs and advised attorneys with regard to many international child abduction cases in the United States Court of Appeals, and one case in the United States Supreme Court.  In 2015 Joel R. Brandes Consulting Services, Inc. is a creative writing and publishing company,  providing expert matrimonial and family law content for client newsletters, law firm websites and attorney or law firm blogs. It also assists lawyers with drafting articles for legal journals and preparing presentations and materials for lectures and seminars. It is the publisher of the New York Matrimonial Trial Handbook, and Mr. Brandes website and blogs.
